Winger Jack Stacey is set to be recalled by parent club Reading - just days after extending his loan at Carlisle.
The 20-year-old had last Friday agreed to stay with the Blues until the end of the season.
But the Royals now want him in their squad for their final game of the Championship campaign at Blackburn.
Stacey made nine appearances for Carlisle, scoring two goals against Bristol Rovers and Luton respectively.
Blues boss Keith Curle told United's website: "We thank Jack for his efforts and wish him well."
