Goalkeeper Blair Currie and Max Wright had already left the club to join the Bully Wee before Clyde announced the signings of Darren Ramsay and Barry Cuddihy on Friday, while the capture of Smart Osadolor was confirmed on Saturday morning among a plethora of signings.
And Cuddihy immediately faced his old team-mates, as did Ramsay who was also given a starting berth in Clyde’s Betfred Cup 2-1 win at the Broadwood Stadium.
Meanwhile, also joining Chapman’s new-look squad on a one-year contract was Mark Burbidge, while Callum Home, Lewis Wilson, Jordan Brown and Pinio Dachnowicz joined on amateur terms.
Chapman says he is pleased with the depth he has in his squad now.
“We now have the quantity to go with the quality as we continue with our rebuilding plan,” the ex-Annan Athletic boss said.
Chapman added on Clyde’s website: “Anyone else coming into the club now will need to be of a better standard to the players that we already have and our recruitment will be done on that basis.”
In both team’s opening Betfred Cup clash at the weekend, the Galabankies also included a host of new signings in their starting line-up.
Jack Brannan, James Creaney and Daniel Orsi were among the players to make their first competitive starts for Annan since their moves, while recent addition Ayrton Sonkur was named on the subs’ bench.
But it was one of the Black and Golds’ long-serving players, defender Steve Swinglehurst, who found the net for Athletic to give the side a late consolation goal after Jack Breslin and former Blackburn Rovers David Goodwillie striker had netted for Clyde.
Following the game, Annan announced long-serving Peter Watson will be the captain for the 2017/18 season.
Peter Murphy’s Galabankies will continue their Betfred Cup campaign against Kilmarnock this Saturday.
