Police searching for a missing Workington woman have confirmed that a body has been found.
They say a 26-year-old female was found dead in the Lowca Lane area of Seaton in the early hours of today.
The woman has not been formally identified, but she has been named locally as Nicola Wilson.
Police say her death is not believed to be suspicious.
It follows an extensive search in the Workington area overnight.
Helicopters were brought in to help with the search.
The multi-agency operation took place last night along the shoreline from Maryport to Workington.
A spokesman for Maryport Coastguard Rescue Team said: "Alerted by CGOC Belfast Coastguard to a request from Cumbria Police for help with a search for a missing person. The team were quickly on scene and joined by our colleagues from Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team to begin a shoreline search from Maryport to Workington.
"The area from the high water mark to the main road was searched with extra help called in from Maryport Inshore Rescue and the Police Helicopter."
The search was due to resume today.
The Coroner has been informed of the death.
