Crews from two fire stations were called to a car blaze on the outskirts of Carlisle.
Carlisle East and Carlisle West appliances were called to Brampton Old Road at 12.30pm today (February 29).
A man had been driving along the road when an electrical fault caused the car to start smoking.
The driver then pulled over and called Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service.
He was uninjured in the blaze.
Firefighters praised an ambulance crew who blocked off the road to allow them to gain access - which allowed them to stay safe while they tackled the blaze.
