CUMBRIA Police have confirmed the body of a woman has been recovered in Silloth this afternoon.
The incident occurred today near to the Silloth seafront in the vicinity of the Lifeboat Station and the funfair.
Emergency services attended the incident from 2.30pm and a large area of the Silloth promenade was cordoned off.
The body of a woman was discovered in the area and police are not treating it as suspicious at this time.
A police spokesperson has confirmed: "Police can confirm that the body of a woman has been found in the area of the life boat station in Silloth at around 2:30pm today (Aug 22)."
"Formal identification has not yet taken place and inquiries are ongoing."
"Officers are treating the death as unexplained but not believed to be suspicious at this time."
