UPDATE: The road has now reopened following the vehicle fire, according to Cumbria Police at 8.40 pm (September 28).
A MAJOR road in Penrith is temporarily closed following a vehicle fire.
The A66 Westbound is closed due to a vehicle fire from A686 Carleton Avenue (Kemplay Bank Roundabout) to M6 J40 (Penrith).
Police confirmed the road was closed at around 6:30pm (September 28).
Emergency services are currently on scene.
Drivers are being advised of delays ahead of travel.
