A NEW ice cream parlour at a popular village shop has said that it enjoyed a 'really good' opening day.
The Melting Pot, which is located behind The Wetheral Village Shop and the Posting Pot Cafe, opened on Sunday, March 31, with it stocking various flavours of local ice cream that were sourced from Brampton's Temon Farm Milk Barn, including 'Golden Delicious', a twist on the traditional vanilla, strawberries and cream, mint chocolate chip.
The Melting Pot is the brainchild of The Posting Pot owner Paul Blythe who aimed to promote Wetheral with the new ice cream spot and after its grand opening, he expressed his happiness at its success.
He said: "We didn't count the folk but we must have had about 300 people here over the course of the day.
"There was great support and I think in the main people liked it and enjoyed it.
"Obviously, you are going to get one or two issues with it being brand new but it was really good.
"There was people out on the village green and there was nice weather which makes a difference obviously but there was a buzz around the village."
