The plant operated for nearly 50 years and it was shut down last April.
Crunch talks were held last February to try and save the factory, but they were unsuccessful and more than 150 workers lost their jobs.
The company used to produce acetate tow, a fibrous material used in cigarette filters. It blamed changes in the global demand for the product for its closure.
Eastman Chemical initially unveiled plans to start knocking down the site last summer.
The company opened the plant in 1968 and also makes acetate tow in Tennessee, Korea and China.
A spokesman for Eastman said: “The site is for sale. We are working with a commercial agent and through them we are in contact with a number of interested parties.
“We are currently preparing the site for optimal market offering.”
It is not yet known what the site will be used for.
