A young man had to be winched to safety by a coastguard helicopter after he broke his ankle falling into a waterfall in the Lake District near Penrith.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident in Swarth Beck yesterday.
Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team rushed to the scene and then contacted the coastguard for assistance.
The man had fallen about 5m and into the water and due to difficult access the team were unable to get him out.
He was successfully winched to safety by a coastguard helicopter.
