Two lanes of the M6 motorway in Cumbria were shut this morning following a lorry fire overnight.
Recovery work to remove the remains on the HGV is currently taking place.
Fire crews and police were called out in the early hours of the morning, about 1.30am, to tackle the blaze. It happened southbound between junction 40 for Penrith and junction 39 for Shap.
The whole southbound side of the road was shut for a period of time to allow the crews to deal with the incident.
The fire service says that two crew members wore breathing apparatus and used a hose reel jet and three compressed air foam systems to put out the fire before dampening down the vehicle.
Crews spent two hours at the scene.
Two lanes have reopened this morning and traffic is said to be coping well.
The final lane remains closed for the final stages of recovery and carriageway inspection.
The road is not expected to fully reopen until about 12pm.
