An 82-year-old man has died following a crash near Keswick.
It happened on Friday afternoon on the A66, near Braithwaite.
The man, from the Braithwaite area, was initially taken by air ambulance to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle, with serious injuries.
Police have now confirmed that he died on Sunday.
The accident happened at 4.40pm.
He was driving a silver Toyota Avensis.
Another man was also seriously hurt.
The 24-year-old, who was driving a Volkswagen Bora saloon car, was taken also taken by air ambulance, this time to the Royal Preston Hospital, with serious injuries.
The road was closed for several hours whilst police accident investigators worked at the scene.
Police are appealing for any witnesses that may have been in the Braithwaite area around the time of the collision.
