A WOMAN had to be rescued from her house and motorists became trapped in floodwater following heavy downpours.
Firefighters attended two incidents in the Egremont area at about 8.20am.
They rescued people from a car trapped in floodwater on the A595 at Moor Row and pumped 3ft of floodwater from a woman's home in Middletown.
Nearby Nethertown Road in St Bees was closed due to flooding, affecting traffic between the village and Beckermet.
The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert - meaning be prepared - for the Rivers Ehen, Irt and Esk, in west Cumbria.
It said it was issued due to a more rapid rise in river levels than expected overnight.
Meanwhile a Met Office warning of snow has been removed.
