A lorry fire and a crash caused problems on the M6 either side of Carlisle this morning.
Two lanes of the southbound carriageway are closed between junction 41 for Catterlen and junction 40 for Penrith following an HGV fire.
Police and firefighters were called to the incident at about 4am today.
The driver was uninjured.
Recovery is underway.
It was the first of two motorway incidents this morning, with the second occurring at about 7am.
A blue Porsche Cayman crashed into the central reservation while heading north on the motorway, between junction 44 Carlisle North, and junction 45 for Gretna.
The driver, a 36-year-old man from Bury, suffered minor injuries.
That has since been cleared.
