Police say they are investigating the "suspicious" death of a pet dog near its owner's home in Workington.
The pet was found in a front yard in an area of Great Clifton known as the The Gavels. It had sustained a fatal head injury. The dog was found by its owner on Saturday April 30.
Police believe the dog sustained the injury between 4pm and 5pm.
"The exact cause of the head injury is unknown," said a spokesman for Cumbria Police today.
He said that anybody who can help police establish how the dog died should contact PC Fowkes (collar number 2326) by calling 101 and quoting log number 245 of April 30. Alternatively, anybody with information can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
