Parents of newborn babies will be spoilt for choice after a Workington entrepreneur and business owner opened a new shop at Dunmail Park.
The Baby Boutique opened with a busy start last weekend, attracting many customers with affordable baby items.
Sarah Marsh was thrilled to be opening what is now her third store in the country.
She said: “It feels amazing to be opening a store closer to my home town. We currently have a store in Carlisle and Preston, so moving closer to home by adding a third store was always something we were looking at doing. Our launch weekend was fantastic and we have had such a warm welcome from the community who say our store is much-needed in the area.”
Sarah reached out to Dunmail Park a few months ago about acquiring a unit in the shopping centre and was met with a warm welcome.
“The centre manager welcomed us into the shopping centre and they could not have done more – they were amazing,” she said.
The 36-year-old has much more planned for her shop.
With free parking Sarah’s business will be able to fit car seats and check whether prams can fit into cars too.
She said: “This gives us a brilliant service we can offer our customers, and of course, for any customer of Dunmail park we will check their car seat for free.”
Owning her own shop has been a dream come true. “We have been around for about six years now. The business started when I had my little girl Mia. We opened our Carlisle Store in 2016 and then Preston in 2018 and Workington this year. In between we have been concentrating on our online store and growing our online sales which are now all of the UK and worldwide.
“Covid has impacted our business significantly like other retail businesses, and we are looking at ways to future proof our stores and offer an amazing in-store experience that customers want to come to, rather than shop online.”
She added: “Learning the business and the technology behind websites etc – all of which is a huge learning curve of late – it’s been Tiktok. We have a member of staff who does really good TikTok videos so she has been teaching us all how to do it. Customers get to see the fun side to the business through this.”
Sarah decided to open a baby boutique based on her own shopping experiences and found there was very little choice in her area. As a pregnant mum herself, she wanted to help other parents find well-priced and different baby items. Pop into her shop at Dunmail Park to see what she has in store.
