MITCHELL Paul MBE QGM Mjr (Retired) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Paul, who peacefully closed his eyes at the Cumberland Infirmary on Saturday 3rd June 2023, aged 72 years. Dearly beloved husband of Pauline, a loving dad of Sarah and Louise, a cherished grandfather, a dear friend to many and a respected Veteran who served his Country for many years. Funeral Service to be held at Hayton Church on Friday 23rd June at 1.30pm, then on to Carlisle Crematorium. Donations in memory of Paul can be made to Oak Tree Animal's Charity and Diabetes UK. We are so very sad to hear this news about Paul. We got to know him as members of the same pub quiz team at The Stone Inn in Hayton. We loved the monthly pub quiz and were very fortunate to have been asked by Jeff to join the team. What a laugh we had each month with Paul, Sarah, Ewan and Jeff. We remember the fun conversations and Paul's encyclopedic knowledge!

Paul always took the time to ask us about our lives, how we were and how work was going from one month to the next. We loved his stories and learnt a lot from him. He was intelligent, warm and funny and we are very lucky to have known him, albeit relatively briefly. We are sending our love and deep condolences to all the family, Ken and Emma xx
