The Cumbria Life Home & Garden Show showcases the best in interior design, gardens and home renovation. Here are five reasons why you should visit the three-day event at Rheged, near Penrith. Don’t miss it - Friday, March 16 to Sunday, March 18.

1. Inspiring ideas

With more than 80 exhibitors, it’s the perfect opportunity to get inspiration for your home. Chat with interior designers and architects or find out how artists such as ceramicists and painters create their work. This is your chance to make the most of having all these amazingly creative people in one place!

2. Free talks

A total of 15 talks take place across the weekend on subjects as diverse as gardening, lighting, smart technology, and interior design. Experts taking the stage include freelance gardening writer Susie White, lighting expert Melanie Shaw, architect Rod Hughes, and the horticulture team from Newton Rigg College, near Penrith. All the talks are free with the £6 daily entrance ticket and take place in Rheged’s lecture theatre. For full details visit www.rheged.com .

3. Expert masterclasses

How about learning a skill directly from an expert in a small, specialist masterclass? Experts in everything from flower arranging to upholstery and soft furnishings to furniture painting will be leading these exclusive groups for a special discounted show price of £20 per place. For a full list of masterclasses and to book your place visit www.rheged.com.

4. Bigger and better

This year’s show has been expanded from two days to three days due to popular demand. It means there’s an extra day of talks and masterclasses and an extra day to visit the dozens of exhibitors across Rheged’s five exhibition halls. If you’re planning a new build or restoration project then check out the line-up of talks on Friday at www.rheged.com.

5. Simply the best

The show is curated by Maureen Whitemore of Whitemore & Thwaytes Interiors in Penrith and Liz Newport of Buzy Lizzie Garden Design, also in Penrith, who invite only the very best craftspeople and designers from across the north of England and southern Scotland to take part. Around 40 percent of this year’s exhibitors are first-timers.
