The occupants of a house in Whitehaven were "showered with glass" after a man threw a stone through their window.
The incident took place about 10.20pm on Saturday night in Bleng Avenue.
A man was witnessed walking along the road before stopping and looking at his phone. It was at this point, say police, that he picked up a stone from the top of a wall and threw it through the house's living room widow.
A force spokesman said: "The occupants of the house were showered with glass during the incident and they could've been severely injured."
The man was then seen walking off in the direction of Esk Avenue.
He is described as being white, of medium build, having short hair and was wearing a hoody at the time. He was also seen carrying a large bottle.
