A man has had to be cut free from a car after crashing into a tree travelling towards Carlisle.
Police, firefighters and paramedics all rushed to the scene at 6.45am this morning.
The man, a 40-year-old from Wigton driving a Vauxhall Corsa, collided with the tree on the B5307 Kirkbride to Carlisle road.
The incident is believed to have happened between Kirkbampton, west of Carlisle and Kirkbride.
The road was shut in both directions.
The man has been taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle with non-life threatening injuries.
