Cumbria's police commissioner wants to know whether residents want to pay more council tax.
Peter McCall's public consultation on the Police and Crime Commissioner's 2018-19 budget runs until December 8.
It is proposed that the policing element of a council tax bill in Cumbria could rise by 1.92 per cent a year.
That is equivalent to £4.23 for a Band D property, or just over 8p a week.
The police crime commissioner consultation must be carried out before the constabulary's budget is set.
Mr McCall said: "I would like to know how you feel about how much you pay towards the funding of policing services, and how you would feel about increasing the policing element of your council tax next year.
"The closing date for the survey is 5pm on Friday 8 December."
Mr McCall will also be speaking to Cumbria's chief constable Jerry Graham and the police and crime panel before making his decision.
He said: "This modest increase will help me to support policing services and keep Cumbria a safe place."
