Nearly 100 friends and family members of a mum battling cancer have had a tattoo in her name to show their support.

Carly McCarron has a rare-form of stomach cancer, which is treatable but not cureable.

When the mum-of-three was diagnosed four months ago, her niece Megan Ann Dunn decided to get a four-leaf clover tattoo on her wrist as a good luck charm for her aunty.

Since then, 90 friends and family have followed her lead to have the Carly Clover tattoo.

"It's my first tattoo and I wanted something meaningful as I adore her," said 19-year-old Megan Ann. "She isn't just my auntie, she's my best friend."

The tattoos have been done at Jackie's Tattoo Studio in Workington.

Carly, who lives at Frizington, said: "My niece got the tattoo as a good luck gesture and after Megan, 90 others got the tattoo. Even my mam, Patricia Robinson, who is coming up 60 got one."

And when Jackie was giving the tattoos, she was urging people to buy Carly a gift to show their support.

"The flowers were unbelievable," she said, "and I've been getting Pandora charms for my bracelet.

"Jackie has been so kind and I want to thank her for everything."

To show her appreciation to everyone, Carly will host a Get Well Party which will be clover-themed, on New Year's Day to thank everyone for their support.

Last week customers at The Cutting Room in Frizington donated money to Carly, rather than buy gifts for the owners of the business when it celebrated its 10th anniversary.

So far Carly has had five lots of chemotherapy and will have her final one on November 29 and every three weeks she is given targeted therapy drugs to prolong her life.

Nicola Close, who owns The Cutting Room with her sister Stacy Huddart, said she decided to ask for donations rather than gifts to the business, to treat Carly.

Carly said she couldn't thank people who donated enough.
