CUMBRIA'S mountain rescue teams are urging walkers to be aware of the change in the clocks, marking the end of British Summer Time.
The trained volunteers who come to the aid of injured or stranded walkers on the Lake District and county's fells are raising awareness of national Today is Mountain and Cave Rescue Awareness Day taking place today, on October 28.
Advice from Mountain Rescue England and Wales, the umbrella for teams across the two countries, issued on social media states: "As the clocks went back last night, don't forget that it will get dark an hour earlier this afternoon/evening.
"Plan your day with that in mind and don't forget to have a torch (and a spare) in your bag if you're out and about."
The Lake District Search and Mountain Rescue Association is the umbrella group for Cumbria's member groups - Cockermouth, Coniston, Duddon & Furness, Kendal, Keswick, Kirkby Stephen, Langdale Ambleside, Patterdale, Penrith, LDMRSD, Wasdale and COMRU.
