JUST before the October half term holiday the Caldew Lea Friends organised a pumpkin carving competition.
Pupils and parents were invited to create their own pumpkin carving.
Children from all age groups took part and brought their designs into school last week, on the first day back after the half term break.
All of the entries were then judged by Susan Graham, the chairman of the school’s governing body.
The winner from each class was presented with a Halloween themed prize.
The winners in each year group were: nursery – Freya Martin, reception – Alyssa Cully and Iona Lloyd, year 1 – Mason Elliott and Felicity Murray, year 2 – Marin Dimitrov and Louise Redpath, years 3 and 4 – India Nunn, Lily May Greer and Lexi-Rose Watson, year 5 – Thomas Mullen, year 6 – Jamie Craig and James Riddick.
The parent who won the adult category with the best design was Sophie Murray. Winning designs included a black cat and a unicorn.
A spokesperson said: “Many thanks must go to all the children who took part and for the parents for supporting the activities organised by the Caldew Lea Friends. It is a group of parents/carers/friends who support the school in various activities over the academic year.”
