Stealing a Trespass coat from The Original Factory Shop in Maryport landed a Workington man in court.
Mark Oscar Folden, 41, of Moorclose Road, Salterbeck, appeared before District Judge Gerald Chalk at West Cumbria Magistrates Court in Workington.
The court heard that, on November 8 last year, Folden stole a £40 coat from the discount retailer.
He pleaded guilty to the offence.
Folden was handed a £65 fine by Judge Chalk and ordered to pay £85 costs, £40 compensation and a £30 surcharge.
