History: The Pheasant Inn is a traditional 17th century coaching Inn and was originally called the Red Lion

Style of food: Traditional Pub food with gastro pub-type specials.

Sample Menu: Starters include Caprese Salad (£5.50); black pudding, chorizo, wholegrain mustard sauce (£5.25); duck pate (£5.25); king prawns with sweet chilli dip (£5.95).

Mains feature home made steak and ale pie (£11.95); plaice fillet with prawn and parsley butter (£12.95); pork fillet stuffed with black pudding with sweet potato mash and cider sauce (£11.95); beef lasagne (£10.95); vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options always available.

Desserts, all priced £5.50 include vanilla creme brûlée; caramelised rice pudding; honeycomb ice cream sundae and sticky toffee pudding.

We have a dedicated Pizza Night on Wednesdays when a12 inch pizza with various toppings to choose is £7.50 to eat in or takeaway.

On Thursdays, we serve fish, chips and mushy peas (£7.95) with a veggie option . On Friday, any order for two fillet steaks means you can get a bottle of house merlot or sauvignon for just £1.

For Sunday lunch, we have a traditional roast typically beef, lamb or nut roast with all the trimmings. One course costs £10.95, two courses £12.95 and three courses £14.95.

Our quiz nights are on the first and third Thursday of the month at 9pm.

We serve tasty, well presented food using local suppliers. Our Butcher is Steve Wilson of Corby Hill, the Fish Cellar (Penrith) supplies our fish.

Our cask ale comes from the Cumberland Brewery at Great Corby. Other beers and our wines are supplied by HB Clark of Maryport and we use Pioneer Foods of Carlisle for almost everything else!
