The M6 southbound has reopened after a driver has a "medical episode" .
Police were called at 6.40pm to the incident on the M6 southbound.
It happened between junction 40, for the A66 at Penrith, and junction 39 for Shap.
It had been closed after a vehicle crashed.
Cumbria Police say that a red saloon-type car hit the central reservation after its male driver had a medical episode at the wheel.
Emergency services attended the scene and called for Highways England to assist with the lane closure.
The road has now been cleared.
