EMERGENCY services rushed to the M6 after a car transporter went up in flames.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, Cumbria Police and Highways England are at the scene.
Traffic on the northbound carriageway was at a standstill while firefighters dealt with the blaze.
It happened on the northbound carriageway between J37 and J38 at about 6pm.

Brendan Richardson, 27, of Orton, was driving to Kendal on the A685 when he spotted the fire and reported it to the police.
He said it could be seen from Tebay.
He said: "It was terrible. The fire went very fast from the rear of the lorry to the cab. The driver was fast to act and pulled over on the hard shoulder in safe time."
One lane is now reported to to be open and recovery is on scene.
