The footbridge at railway station has been taken away for repair after it was deemed unsafe by Network Rail last year.
The train operator Northern announced the closure of the bridge at Wigton’s station in December and the structure was taken away on Saturday night.
A Network Rail spokesperson said: “A survey found some of Wigton station footbridge’s steelwork needed maintenance, and it was closed at the end of December with a diversionary walking route put in place.”
It is due to be back by May.
