A law student has been honoured with an award from a Cumbrian solicitors.
Bendles LLP has given the Charles Attenborough Award, presented to the student who has attained academic merit and demonstrated a contribution to the local community, to Liam Mulholland.
Stuart Irving, partner at Bendles Solicitors, said: “Charles was hugely respected solicitor and friend to many clients and other professionals in the local community."
Students from the University of Cumbria are invited to apply for the award.
He added: “I am delighted to award the prize to Liam. He has demonstrated a talent in law as well as demonstrating his contribution to the local community and organisations in Carlisle, including volunteering in the Cumbria Law Centre.
“The Charles Attenborough Award had a number of fantastic entries and I look forward to working with the University and its students next year to continue Charles’ legacy in legal services in Cumbria.”
Liam said: “I feel honoured and privileged to have been awarded the Charles Attenborough Award by Bendles Solicitors.
“ I know this decision would not have been an easy one to make but I am thrilled to be this year’s winner. “
Dr Caroline Rouncefield, head of department, business, law, policing and social sciences at the University of Cumbria, said: “Throughout his time at the University of Cumbria, Liam has worked hard and has excelled in both his academic work and in practice.
"We are delighted to see Liam being recognised for his hard work and will follow his career with interest.”
