LOCALISED flooding caused by heavy rain that battered Cumbria overnight has caused considerable disruption today.
A number of roads are closed or impassable with schools being forced to close and disruption being caused to rail services.
The following roads are affected:
- A69 Between Brampton & Warwick bridge passable with care, traffic still very slow
- B5301 Aspatra to Arkleby closed. Will remain closed overnight
- Wigton to Aikton Road (near Moorhouse Mill) - Flooded/closed. Will remain closed overnight.
- Blennerhasset Bridge (River Ellen) - flooded/blocked
- Woodhouses to Orton Rigg Road - flooded/blocked
The following roads which were previously affected, have now reopened:
- B5299 Dalston Road (Carlisle)
- B5302 King Street and B5305 Station Road in Wigton
- A6 Carleton to M6 J42
- A595 Red Dial (near Wigton)
- A595 Cardewlees to Newby Cross
- Kingmoor Road (Carlisle)
- Houghton Road (Houghton)
- Scotby Road (Scotby)
- A689 Milton to Hallbankgate near Brampton, now passable with care
