A fun mental wellness event will be held in Cockermouth to coincide with World Mental Health Day.
Cockermouth Soroptimists are holding the 'Be Kind to Yourself' event in United Reformed Church on October 12, from 10am to 3pm.
President Katherine Eilbeck said that the theme this year is for all UK Soroptimist clubs to focus on Mental Health (#SoroptimistsThinkOnIt), so club members wanted to provide a free fun event for all the community.
She said: "We are bringing together groups, companies and individuals who are involved in delivering activities that bring people together and make them feel better, with people who are looking to try new activities and experiences and want a chance to make new friends."
Club member Jane Inman, who is helping Katherine with the planning for the day, said: "All the organisations have been fantastic in responding to this idea and our programme of tasters, talks and stalls includes opportunities to try running, rowing, walking, singing, craftwork, Tai Chi, movement and stretching, mediation, massage and mindfulness and to learn about the Women out West (WOW) centre, nutrition and exercise ...amongst others."
Sessions include movement to reduce aches and injury, singing with the Rock Squad, talks, Tai Chi, mini massages, introduction to running and a chance to try rowing.
The full programme for the day is available on the club's facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/cockermouthsoroptimists
Bookings for the sessions will open at 9.30am in the church.
There will also be refreshments available to buy.
