CARLISLE chef Eddie Faulder will play for the Cyprus national rugby team today.
The Moufflons will take on Croatia at the Stelios Kyriakides national stadium in Paphos.
Eddie, 26, is the chef at the Crown and Thistle at Rockcliffe.
He made his debut last year as a forward in the international squad.
Eddie’s maternal grandmother was a Greek Cypriot.
Eddie started playing rugby at Carlisle when he was six, and was playing in the 1st XV at 18.
But at 21, he was injured in a car crash and he suffered a broken hip which put him out of the game for a while.
He later spent time in Australia and, since returning, has really been concentrating on his career, but he still plays rugby for Carlisle.
He said: “My grandmother met my grandfather when he was serving with the British Army during the troubles and they later married. She died in 2013 but would have been proud that I had been asked to represent Cyprus.”
