VOLUNTEER rescuers battled through the first significant snow of the year to help three walkers who became lost on Britain's highest mountain.
Wasdale Mountain Rescue team were called after the walkers were unable to find the main path down off Scafell Pike.The team said weather conditions and visibility were 'challenging' when they were called out on Wednesday afternoon.
The walkers were located sheltering on the summit and walked back down to a car park.
