THOUSANDS of pounds-worth of possession - including Christmas presents - have been stolen in a heartbreaking house raid.
The property, among it a games console and jewellery, was taken from a home in Albert Place, Annan.
Police investigating the break-in say so much was taken that a vehicle was likely to have been needed to take the haul away.
The raid happened between 10.30am on Saturday and 9.40am Monday.
PC Loreo Burke, of Police Scotland at Annan, said: “Because of the quantity of property stolen from this house those responsible must have been there for quite a while, and are likely to have needed a vehicle to remove the property.
“We have been carrying out door to door enquiries in the area.
“I am appealing to anyone who may have been in the Albert Place or Alexandra Place area over this period to get in touch with us if they saw or heard anything suspicious.”
Items stolen includes a bike, two large televisions, a laptop computer, an Xbox games console and games, Christmas presents, handbags and jewellery.
“The value of the stolen property is expected to run into thousands of pounds,” a police statement said.
PC Burke added: “I would also be keen to hear about any vehicles which were seen in the area, or parked in the area, over the weekend which may have seemed suspicious.
“Callers can contact us at Annan on the 101 number and should use the reference number 3655 December 2, 2019.”
Police across the region have urged homeowners to step up security as people stock up on presents and treats during the peak shopping season ahead of Christmas.
That includes ensuring doors and windows are secured and keeping valuables and gifts out of sight to remove temptation for opportunist passing criminals.
Shoppers have already been warned about falling victim to criminals when out and about, keeping purses and purchases secure.
