A search dog and a helicopter were drafted in after two walkers lost their way.
On Saturday a pair of walkers were forced to call 999 after losing their way in the dark.
After losing signal to use their map, near High Cup Nick, Appleby, Penrith Mountain Rescue Team along with Kirkby Stephen Mountain Rescue Team and Teesdale Mountain Rescue Team called in help from the coastguard
A spokesman for PMRT said: "Two walkers reported themselves lost in the area of High Cup Nick near to Appleby, overcome by darkness the pair called 999 but had limited signal for their map to work on their phone.
"Due to the area and lack of information on their location, Kirkby Stephen Mountain Rescue Team and Teesdale Mountain Rescue Team, along with coastguard helicopter were all tasked to help with the search.
"Fortunately, the pair were found relatively quickly and assisted off the fell by team members."
It took 32 volunteers and a search dog five hours to find the missing walkers.
