Deep pan, thin crust or calzone? Vegetarian, barbecue base or seafood?
The choices are endless when it comes to pizza, but here at the News & Star we put the question to our readers to determine who serves the best pizza in north and west Cumbria – and what makes them stand out from the crowd.
After asking for suggestions on our Facebook pag, the results are in.
In no particular order, here are the best places for pizza – as chosen by you.
1: ROMANO, CARLISLE
The eatery – based in the city’s Market Hall – was recommended by many.
Rebecca Dockerty said: “Romano Pizzeria in the market by a country mile.”
Sarah Rowland added: “Romano Pizzeria in the market is amazing.”
Jonny Rowland said: “Romano is the best by a mile.
“Better than any of the takeaways and restaurant pizzas in Carlisle.”
Claire Parkin added: “Romano Pizzeria is the best. Fantastic food and lovely staff.”
And for good measure Jessica Renucci-Gowling said: “Romano Pizzeria – they do fantastic pizza and have fantastic friendly staff.”
2 SAM’S PIZZERIA, ASPATRIA
Based on King Street in the town, reader Kelle Hooker has praised the takeaway.
She said: “They do amazing pizzas and are made with love and friendship.
“Although they are a takeaway rather than a sit-down restaurant, they still always have time for their customers.
“I would recommend them to anybody as all of their food is delicious.”
Sam’s was also suggested by Sharon McGarel.
3: PIZZA PLANET, CARLISLE
The Denton Holme takeaway also won recognition.
Thomas Grahams said: “Pizza Planet in Denton Holme.
“Fantastic top-quality pizzas really hot and fresh.
“Always tasty, and great staff too.”
4: JAIJO’S OF SEATON
The pizza takeaway is located on Main Road in Seaton.
Jean Thompson said: “Jaijo’s of Seaton – lovely, friendly people and the pizzas are lovely.”
5: DELICIOUS, WORKINGTON
This takeaway, on Wilson Street in Workington, also won praise from readers.
Yvonne Carruthers said: “Delicious in Workington - lovely thin based pizzas.”
Lesley Carruthers added: “Delicious at Workington, made to customer requests and fabulous.”
6: THE WILD OLIVE, GOSFORTH
The Italian restaurant is based at Croft Foot Cottage in Gosforth, Seascale.
Bev Park said: “Wild Olive in Gosforth – can’t beat them.”
Jenna Jones added: “Wild Olive at Gosforth, hands down.”
Tom Park posted: “The Wild Olive in Gosforth is the one.”
7: CASA ROMANA, CARLISLE
The Italian Restaurant is based in Carlisle city centre.
Susan Rowan said: “Casa Romana on Warwick Road, Carlisle – always delicious.”
8 GIANNIS, PENRITH
The eatery is based on Market Square.
Al Tate said “Giannis in Penrith – brilliant pizzas and great staff.”
