Carlisle has been given a boost in its attempt to become a cycling city.
Plans are now afoot to kit out the new workshop for the Carlisle Community Cycling Hub which is due to open in May.
The hub will offer free bike loans, free bike checks by experienced bike mechanics and free supervised cycle rides on traffic free routes.
The new workshop and storage space has been provided by McKnight & Son, a builders merchant in Carlisle.
The workshop also provides storage space for another new community project Rebike - Bikes for Africa.
Yesterday, Thursday, February 27, Rebike managing director Geoff Tunstall recevied a contribution from John Roelich treasurer of Eden Valley Cycling Club towards fitting out the workshop.
Also attending was Julie Barton, the newly nominated Cumbria high sheriff, and members of the Cumbria Community Foundation.
