A driver who had been disqualified from driving for 18 years crashed into a tree while more than three times the legal limit.
William Henry Young, 43, of Kirkpatrick-Fleming, was reported to police at about 11pm on Monday, as a member of the public suspected he was driving while under the influence of alcohol.
Police attended and followed him down the A7 and A6071, before he then crashed into a tree.
βHe was all over the road, driving on the wrong side of the road,β said prosecutor Diane Jackson.
Young admitted drink driving, driving whilst disqualified, failing to stop for police, dangerous driving and driving without insurance.
A roadside test found Young to have 110mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
He was remanded ahead of sentencing at Carlisle Crown Court on July 15.
