A POPULAR annual international air show will take place online this weekend for the first time in its 50-year history.
The Royal International Air Tattoo will be streamed on YouTube and Facebook today and tomorrow for free as a result of lockdown restrictions.
It will be streamed between 11am and 3pm.
Defence secretary Ben Wallace said: “This year’s Air Tattoo showcases the innovation of our armed forces with a virtual show that everyone can watch for free from the safety of their homes.
“This includes the iconic RAF Red Arrows, an instantly recognisable symbol of the resilient British spirit and sense of community that we have all shared through these testing times.”
On top of this, there will also be virtual displays on flight simulation programmes which will be performed by video game streamers on Twitch.
At the show in Gloucestershire last year, more than 200 aircraft flew.
