AN AIR ambulance service has revealed a breakdown of its call-outs for the financial year.
The Great North Air Ambulance has revealed that it has responded to 1,466 emergency calls in the space of 12 months.
A spokesperson for the GNAA said: “It is incredible that we could be there 1,466 times for people in their time of need, solely because of public support.”
A helicopter was deployed to 710 incidents with first responder vehicles attending 756 incidents.
Falls were responsible for 191 of the total call-outs, with 23 caused by burns. The GNAA was called 52 times to accidents caused by sport and leisure. Air ambulance staff assisted victims of assault 227 times during the financial year.
Road traffic accidents were responsible for the most call-outs with 425 incidents.
