A SHOWER of awards has come down on many across the county, and it’s not finished yet.
Frizington-born Ryan Dodgson is one of the latest Cumbrians to be praised in the High Sherriff of Cumbria Special Recognition Awards, being handed a certificate for his dedication to the community.
And the 34-year-old has certainly earned it, covering everything from PPE being shared throughout the area and prescriptions being delivered to putting together VE Day meals, board game swaps and surprise birthday cakes throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
High Sherriff Julie Barton said, in her letter to the delighted nominee: “You have been a fantastic fundraiser for local causes [and] have made such a positive difference to so many people.”
Commenting on the award, Ryan said: “I was quite shocked to be honest but felt very proud and very appreciative of it and everyone who nominated me.
“It just goes to show that all my hard work over the last 18 weeks all over West Cumbria, especially Frizington, hasn’t gone unnoticed.”
But his good deeds don't end with support during the pandemic, as Ryan has also put together t-shirts to raise awareness for mental health, and taken part in the Five Wainwrights Challenge to raise vital funds for the same great cause – there's just no stopping his passion for helping others.
