A MAN has appeared in court after being found in possession of illegal drugs.
Philip Holm admitted being in possession of Pregabalin tablets, a controlled class C drug.
Legally the drug is used to treat epilepsy, neuropathic pain, fibromyalgia, restless leg syndrome, and generalised anxiety disorder. The offence took place on July 6 this year.
Holm, of Peter Street in Workington, appeared before Carlisle’s magistrates’ court on Wednesday. He was fined £45 by the court for the crime.
The 39-year-old was also ordered to pay a £34 surcharge to fund victim services. He was also told to pay £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service to contribute towards the costs of bringing the case to court.
The court ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the Pregabalin tablets. The defendant’s guilty plea was taken into account.
Holm must pay the balance by September 16.
