All but essential cross border travel between the England and Scotland is set to become illegal from 6pm on Friday.
The move had been announced by first minister Nicola Sturgeon this week.
It will also be illegal to travel from Dumfries and Galloway into other areas which are under level three and four of the Scottish Government’s coronavirus restrictions – the area is in level two.
The newly-introduced Scottish Government system has five levels of protection aimed at controlling the spread of the coronavirus.
It runs from zero to four – with zero having the least restrictions and four the most significant.
