PROPOSALS to turn barns into homes have been submitted.

Carlisle City Council received plans last Friday for the conversion of existing barns to dwellings at Moscow Farm, Gilsland, Brampton.

The application has been lodged by a Mr & Mrs Haywood, who list their address at the site.

According to the application form, plans include converting the barns into five homes.

The present use of the buildings is listed as “agricultural and animal housing”.

A number of drawing have been submitted detailing the layout of the proposed homes.

For example, the proposals for “unit four” include a home with two bedrooms, bathroom living space and kitchen.

The site for the proposals is about 252 sqm.

The others units have varying designs.

According to a previous application at the property, in April 1997, the city council granted permission for the “demolition of lean to building and erection of larger replacement agricultural building for garage and equipment storage”.
