A POPULAR Lake District attraction is to temporarily close due to the current situation regarding Covid-19.
Ullswater 'Steamers', one of the most well-known Lake District attractions, will be closed from 5pm today, with an announcement on the attraction's website describing the closure as put in place with "a heavy heart".
"It has been a very tough year for everyone," the statement read.
"Following careful consideration of the current situation and travel advice from the Government, we have made the decision to temporarily close Ullswater ‘Steamers’ with effect from 17:00 on Wednesday 23rd December.
"We will constantly monitor the situation and look to reopen as soon as conditions allow us to do so in the New Year.
"The health and well-being of our visitors, colleagues, local communities and suppliers are of utmost importance to us.
"We understand that this will be a huge disappointment to our customers, but ultimately, we all want to protect the health and safety of everyone who sails with us and the wider community.
"Although it has been a tough decision for us to make, we believe that this is the most responsible route to take.
"Those customers who had tickets booked have been contacted directly and refunds will be processed."
