A new northern-focused publisher is launching with the goal of elevating northern writers and providing a platform for creatives to challenge the London-centric publishing industry.
Northodox Press launched in August 2020 during the midst of the first national lockdown, catering to readers of crime fiction with the authentic voice of Northern England. Publisher James Gaskell said: "If you're exhausted by a book market oversaturated with stories of a London-centric Britain or the cosy-crime of the Cotswolds, look no further."
The press released their first title Under the Bridge by the Liverpudlian author, Jack Byrne, on February 18th 2021. Their 2021 releases also include a near-future science fiction thriller, set in the Yorkshire Dales, and a psychological thriller based in Manchester and the Scottish Highlands. Airedale by Leeds-based writer Dylan Byford will be released April 15th and Over the Ragged Edge by Mancunian novelist, Catherine Wimpeney, will publish June 10.
Submissions are currently open for all writers currently living in the North of England or those originally from the north. Visit Northdox.co.uk for more details or speak to the editors via email at submissions@northodox.co.uk
