CORONAVIRUS testing sites for people without symptoms who work in the community have been set up throughout Cumbria, the county council announced.
Trinity School Sports Hall, Carlisle, Beacon Hill School, Aspatria, and Ullswater Community College, Penrith, are three of the Lateral Flow Community Testing Sites in the area which have opened for people who can't work from home.
There are also centres in Kendal, Queen Katherine School, Appleby Road, and Millom, Millom School, Salthouse Road, with more planned.
Currently, the sites are intended only for those who can't work from home and deal with the community as part of their job.
People are however encouraged to stay local and not to travel excessively to sites far from their homes.
The onsite tests provide a result within 30 minutes, with no need for them to be sent away for analysis to a laboratory.
Regular testing of people without Covid-19 symptoms is a key part of the Government’s strategy to control the spread of the virus.
Lateral Flow Device testing helps spot asymptomatic carriers, people who do have Covid-19 and are infectious but are not ill.
These people will then be asked to self-isolate to protect others.
Those who have Coronavirus symptoms are asked not attend the test site, but instead book a test at nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119.
A council spokeswoman said: "We are pleased to announce that several sites are now available for those who are unable to work from home.
"These tests are to detect the virus, not to ease lockdown restrictions at this stage.
"Complete with strict and safe Covid-19 precautions in place, five test sites are now up and running with more to follow soon.
