A RUGBY club are buzzing after the announcement that they will be able to resume play.

The team have said there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Following the announcement by Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, the club can confirm that we are making plans for the resumption of training and playing.

More details will be released in due course but they will start with the resumption of training before matches start later in the year.

Club spokesman, Keith Morley said, “It is great to have a target to work towards. It has been fortunate that the majority of this last lockdown has been in the off-season so that we can still, hopefully, have a good season for all ages in 2021.'

Dozens of businesses and members of the community have played a pivotal role in getting a rugby club the pitch they need.

Over the years Aspatria Hornets have been hit with their share of bad luck but now, after the efforts and commitment of the community, they are able to proudly show off the pitch they have lovingly nurtured and developed.

Throughout lockdown groundsman and vice chairman Alan Reynolds has maintained the pitch so when the teams are able to get back out and train, it will be in tip top condition.

The club has been running for over 100 years but was forced to disband after getting into financial difficulties. However, they have bounced back in the last 10 years and now have a booming following and a community behind the club.

The club is buzzing after managing to install better drainage that will help members continue to help the club grow and become bigger and better.

Aspatria Hornets have been working hard in the community while the rugby season has been cancelled as a result of the covid-19 pandemic and are thankful for the all the efforts people have put in.

More details will be released.
