Many of us will be dreaming of that first post-lockdown pint with friends and family in the forthcoming months following last week’s announcement about the plans for a road map, as Britain finally looks to emerge from the Covid crisis.

In line with the announcement, many of you will undoubtedly already have been thinking of plans for how to mark the occasion when our favourite locals reopen for business.

The first opening will be April 12, when pub gardens will be permitted to open, followed by indoors hospitality just over a month later on May 17.

With this in mind, we asked our readers which pubs they would be venturing to first when the time comes.

Here were your responses in no particular order...

1 THE WHITTINGHAM CAT, WHITEHAVEN

Reader Andrew Curtis stated that he would be heading to this Whitehaven favourite first, once the opportunity arises.

In the meantime, plans are afoot for the pub to serve meals on a delivery basis, including on Mother's Day.

On its Facebook page, the pub is offering deals including fresh premium cocktails, home-made Sunday roasts and large home-made creative afternoon tea boxes.

2 NO NAME BAR, WHITEHAVEN

Reader Paul Sermon offered up this suggestion for the first place to head to for a post-lockdown treat.

Again, in the meantime there takeaway offerings are earning rave reviews over on its Facebook site and look well worth a try.

Tina Ashford gave her seal of approval saying: “Tried the Friday burgers from No Name – absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend.”

3 GEORGE AND DRAGON, HARRINGTON

Reader Charlotte Thompson recommended this Harrington favourite haunt as she looked forward to a first outing to the local after lockdown

She stated: “The George and Dragon in Harrington is my local brilliant pub.”

It also received rave reviews from Dean Talbot on Facebook who said: “It is a brilliant pub. Large selection of beers, friendly staff and people.10/10.”

4 THE STRAND, WHITEHAVEN

This Whitehaven pub has received the vote of reader Karen Scott, who will be heading there first when possible.

The venue has confirmed plans to reopen when safe to do so, if the Government’s plans for the road map are delivered on time.

The pub took to Facebook to say: “Bookings for May will open in April.

“We’ve been closed for a total of 12 months we’ve got lots to make up for this summer.”

5 THE QUEENS HOTEL, ST BEES

Reader Jason Conway made this suggestion for the first place to head in St Bees for a post-lockdown tipple.

Reviewer Dazz Ainsworth ventured to the pub last time lockdown measures were loosened.

He said: “Lovely atmosphere.

"The food is brilliant.”
