PROPOSALS to turn a former newspaper office building into a "drinking establishment" have been given the green-light.
Eden District Council have approved plans on Tuesday for 14 King Street, Penrith.
Plans include the serving of food and hotel facilities.
According to the heritage design and access statement: "Since the Cumberland and Westmorland Herald ceased to manufacture and distribute the newspaper from the premises the buildings to the rear of the sales and administrative offices have no longer been required and the owners made the decision to sell the whole site and lease back the frontage offices to continue producing the paper."
